Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis: A rare kidney condition

Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerois (FSGS) is a rare condition, and may have no symptoms, but there is damage to the filters of the kidneys, which prevents the kidneys from functioning properly. There is currently no approved treatment for FSGS.

Chemokine receptor 2 or CCR2 normally causes immune cells to move into a part of the body that is inflamed. In addition, certain cells in your kidney may be negatively affected by CCR2 which lead to high protein levels in your urine. When CCX140-B is given, it blocks CCR2 and may reduce injury of these kidney cells. In animal models with kidney disease, blocking CCR2 reduced protein in the urine and protected kidneys from damage.
